A Common Envelope Jets Supernova (CEJSN) Impostor Scenario for Fast Blue Optical Transients

چکیده

Abstract I propose a new scenario, the polar common envelope jets supernova (CEJSN) impostor to account for AT2018cow-like fast blue optical transients (FBOTs). The CEJSN scenario evolves through four main phases. (1) A red supergiant (RSG) star expands tidally interact with neutron (NS) companion (or black hole). interaction increases RSG mass loss rate form circumstellar matter (CSM) halo r ≃ 0.1 pc. (2) Shortly before onset of evolution (CEE) and about year explosion NS accretes from launches that inflate two opposite lobes in CSM within ≈100 au. (3) NS-RSG system enters CEE phase during which ejects most dense equatorial outflow. (4) At termination leftover forms circumbinary disk around NS-core system. energetic that, when colliding fronts lobes, power an FBOT event. low jets-lobes zones their large distance, 100 au, center transient. In future core collapses second NS. far NSs might merge. suggest FBOTs similar are impostors compose fraction progenitors NS-NS merger binaries.

iPTF ARCHIVAL SEARCH FOR FAST OPTICAL TRANSIENTS

There has been speculation of a class of relativistic explosions with an initial Lorentz factor Γinit smaller than that of classical Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). These “dirty fireballs” would lack prompt GRB emission but could be pursued via their optical afterglow, appearing as transients that fade overnight. Here we report a search for such transients (transients that fade by 5-σ in magnitude ove...

Blue jets and gigantic jets

An overview of general phenomenology and proposed physical mechanisms of large scale electrical discharges termed ‘blue jets’ and ‘gigantic jets’ observed at high altitude in the Earth’s atmosphere above thunderstorms is presented. The primary emphasis is placed on summarizing available experimental data on the observed morphological features of upward jet discharges and on the discussion of re...

Searches for Fast Radio Transients

We discuss optimal detection of fast radio transients from astrophysical objects while taking into account the effects of propagation through intervening ionized media, including dispersion, scattering and scintillation. Our analysis applies to the giant-pulse phenomenon exhibited by some pulsars, for which we show examples, and to radio pulses from other astrophysical sources, such as prompt r...

MHD Supernova Jets: The Missing Link

We review recent progress in the theory of jet production, with particular emphasis on the possibility of 1) powerful jets being produced in the first few seconds after collapse of a supernova core and 2) those jets being responsible for the asymmetric explosion itself. The presently favored jet-production mechanism is an electrodynamic one, in which charged plasma is accelerated by electric fi...
